Summary

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 No se si reir, llorar o revolear todo al demonio。El libro me gustó, pero todavía tiene algo que no me cierra。 Quizás es porque no me gustan tanto las historias de brujas o no me gustan mucho los finales abiertos, no lo se。 Pero sin dudas voy a leer el tercero cuando salga。Amo a Ansel, Lou y Coco con todo mi corazón。

OMG!!

。。。more

。。。more

Meh。 This was not at all like Serpent and Dove。 I LOVED Serpent and Dove so this book was quite disappointing。。。 If you’re reading this review, pretend that Serpent and Dove is the only book, that it’s not a series, and leave it at that。 Don’t continue the series, save yourself the boredom。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I enjoyed the plot on this book more than the first novel and the characters really became alive in this book。 I think the death of Ansel was foreshadowed so much it was not really emotional like it could have been if they had not done that look in to the future。 Wish I had formed a deeper connection with Ansel before he died。

2。5 - An unfortunately weak follow up :( everything I liked about book one was cast aside in this book。 Not even sure if I wanna go on to the third book when it comes out bc I don’t really care anymore? I dunno。 It’s sad I really wanted to like this but found myself struggling to finish it and waiting for the end。

I thoroughly enjoyed being back in this world and immersed in Lou's story。 In her fight for her life she almost loses herself。 There was little to no fun witty banter and her live for life was very absent here。 What I did not enjoy was the dynamic between Reid and her in this installment。 Reid is still very much a cut and dry character and failed to grow much at all, although I still have quite a soft spot for him。After all this, I do feel the plot was good, the flow was quick paced and still a I thoroughly enjoyed being back in this world and immersed in Lou's story。 In her fight for her life she almost loses herself。 There was little to no fun witty banter and her live for life was very absent here。 What I did not enjoy was the dynamic between Reid and her in this installment。 Reid is still very much a cut and dry character and failed to grow much at all, although I still have quite a soft spot for him。After all this, I do feel the plot was good, the flow was quick paced and still a great installment。 I just missed the fun side that was so ever present in serpent and dove。 。。。more

I enjoyed this one better than Serpent and Dove。 There were a few areas when I felt a little bogged down but that could have just been because of my schedule last week。 There was more character development in this one though and I feel like you got to understand the different dynamics between characters。 A lot of personal growth for both Lou and Reid and a turning point in their relationship。 The ending though。。。all I have to say is why!!!! Now I wait for the third ugh!

。。。more

Darker, and in some ways deeper, than the first。 That comes with positives and negatives。 I missed the playfulness, while the losses kept mounting。 There’s emotional payoff to counteract some of that, but at times that didn’t feel enough。 That said - it’s an amazing story, the protagonists have become more three dimensional, while there’s good understanding of how the villains may have become who they are。 I’m pumped and feel we’re VERY set up for a cataclysmic? apocalyptic? conclusion。。。。。 😬😬😬 Darker, and in some ways deeper, than the first。 That comes with positives and negatives。 I missed the playfulness, while the losses kept mounting。 There’s emotional payoff to counteract some of that, but at times that didn’t feel enough。 That said - it’s an amazing story, the protagonists have become more three dimensional, while there’s good understanding of how the villains may have become who they are。 I’m pumped and feel we’re VERY set up for a cataclysmic? apocalyptic? conclusion。。。。。 😬😬😬 #countingdownthedays 。。。more

2。75 starsI really wanted to enjoy this one after reading S&D but I felt this was really more of a filler book with not much going on。 I mean later when the whole trilogy is out maybe this won't matter as much but for now it's disappointing。 I was partially getting annoyed at Lou and Reid - JUST COMMUNICATE ALREADY! But there was still some witty banter which I enjoyed。 I love getting to know Coco, Ansel, and Beau even more in this book along with the addition of the circus troupe characters。 Ju 2。75 starsI really wanted to enjoy this one after reading S&D but I felt this was really more of a filler book with not much going on。 I mean later when the whole trilogy is out maybe this won't matter as much but for now it's disappointing。 I was partially getting annoyed at Lou and Reid - JUST COMMUNICATE ALREADY! From cute to freakishly toxic。In other words, I can't believe what I just read。 What the hell happened?Everything that made the first book decent, was butchered in this one。 Including all of the characters。First off, killing off great ones and replacing them with boring cardboards。 Why killing archbishop was necessary? Honestly, why? Even his funeral was pointless。 It could have been literally anyone。 He was great as a sort of villain and you just had to off him。 What the hell happened with Baz? From cute to freakishly toxic。In other words, I can't believe what I just read。 What the hell happened?Everything that made the first book decent, was butchered in this one。 Including all of the characters。First off, killing off great ones and replacing them with boring cardboards。 Why killing archbishop was necessary? Honestly, why? Even his funeral was pointless。 It could have been literally anyone。 He was great as a sort of villain and you just had to off him。 What the hell happened with Baz? He was there for half a second and then he was gone。 That whole sequence in the woods was a clusterfuck。 I could barely follow what was going on。Which brings me to the second point which is the boredom that I suffered while reading 80% of this book。 The whole plot of looking for alliances could have been condensed。 The circus troupe or whatever they were could have had less screen time。 For the life of me, I could not bring myself to care for any of them。 The plot of the book was even weaker than in the previous one。 At one point, I just wanted Lou's crazy mother to kill her and be done with it, cause I certainly were。 Lou came across as completely selfish, doing everything so she wouldn't die。 At least, that's the impression that I got。 Apparently, she wanted to save the kings children。 Which again, why? You don't even know them, why do you care? Shouldn't you just want to kill your mother because she's completely crazy and evil? And when she has a chance, she blows it, of course。 Otherwise, what would really happen in the next book。Honestly, I wanted to scream for the majority of the time while reading this。 And the biggest reason for that was Reed and Lou。 What happened to you too? I was rooting for you and you just let me down。 Ugh, it could have been such a beautiful relationship。 The amount of times each of them almost die, and the one is forced to kill someone else to save the other, was ridiculous。 It was so repetitive, disgusting and toxic。 How can you justify that? I'm sorry to break it to you, but it is NOT romantic。 Killing someone to save them is not the way to go。 Other than that, the same old trust issues appeared and all I could do was roll my eyes。 I get it, okay? I get it。 They went through traumatic shit and they each coped with it in their own way, but did it really have to be this way? Really? They could have dealt with it together。 After all, team work makes dream work。I did kind of enjoy Louise going nuts and following her mother's footsteps, I just didn't like how it was handled。 And that applies for a lot of things in this book。 I did not like the way things were executed。 With a better writing perhaps it could have worked。 I also enjoyed one conversation (yes, I know, only one?) between Reed and Lou about how she felt like she will never be enough for him and turning into our mothers I think is something we all fear。 I could relate to that and it did make me sad, because no matter what we do or how much we try, if that person is not willing to accept you, he never will。 Perhaps, I'm being too harsh on them, but I feel they deserved better。 Their drama was unnecessary amid everything that was going on。I was wondering when the memory thing would be addressed and it was, but then it was forgotten again and never brought back。 Surely, there has to be some consequences for playing with your and others minds。 What got me really confused was the episode with Lou and Baz。 Why did she think that he should remember her? She was the one who took all the memories away from him。 And then she acts all surprised that he doesn't remember? What?Other characters were equally horrible, annoying or useless。 Like Ansel, what was the point of him? To paint him as this cute puppy just to kill him off? Okay, but that only works if we are attached to the character。 Which I wasn't。 I couldn't care less that he dropped dead。 Coco just annoyed me the whole time and leading Ansel on did not help。Claude something, turned into some weird deity and it just came out of nowhere。 By that point, I had already checked out。The last few chapters were okay, even though the last ''fight'' ended in like 5 seconds。 I can't imagine anyone liking Seelie, therefore, her rescue did not make sense at all。 So。。。。。yeah。 This was horrid。This book managed the impossible。 It made me tired。P。S Sex game-weakP。P。S The audiobook was atrocious。 I couldn't understand the half of what they were saying。 Did you really have to make the accents THAT thick? 。。。more
